Ways to Find the Best Truck Driving Jobs for You

The trucking industry is enormous, and there are many different CDL truck driving positions available in all aspects of it. Finding the best opportunities for your situation is not always easy, but there are some things you can do to make the search easier and get the job you want.

Job Recruiters

One way to find truck driving positions that fit your needs is to work with a recruiter who has access to many different job listings within the industry. The recruiter can match your background to the truck driving opportunities available in the area, eliminating the things you don't want to do or are not qualified for.

Once the recruiter has a list of positions for you, they can help arrange interviews and put you in touch with the right people at each company. The recruiter can also submit your resume to the hiring manager and tell them about you and your experience before you go in for an interview. Using a recruiter like this can help ensure that you are interviewing for positions with companies interested in you.

Job Boards and Classifieds

Job boards and classified sites specializing in many different kinds of jobs can be effective when looking for CDL truck driving positions if you filter the jobs to just the ones relevant to you. Often large companies looking for drivers will post ads on many jobs sites to get a lot of exposure. Many of these sites are not just dedicated to the trucking industry, but there are a few job boards specifically for truck driving positions if you search online.

If you apply through these sites for a position, make sure you include a cover letter, your resume, and as much information as possible to include with the application. Many people use these sites, so it is critical that you stand out when your application hits the hiring manager's desk. Sometimes they are looking for specific experience or details that could win you the position, but only if you take the time to put it all on the application.

Because so many people apply through these same sites, you want to be sure your application gets looked at, so follow up the application with an e-mail or a call to let them know you applied and are interested in working for the company.

Apply In Person

Walking into a trucking company and applying for open truck driving positions in person is still very effective. Going in to apply can show the hiring manager that you are really interested and are willing to take the time out of your day to go to the business and fill out the application for the job.

Some managers will interview you the same day if you apply this way, but even if they don't, it shows you are willing to go the extra mile and take some initiative, and that is a quality that a company will value.
